June was a big month at Universal Orlando, and as a family that has walked these parks more times than we can count, here’s what actually matters for your next vacation — the news our Pixie Vacations agents are watching right now.
Epic Universe is finally getting a nightly fireworks show
This is the headline every family has been waiting for. Starting July 7, Epic Universe debuts Universal Celestial Goodnight, a nightly nighttime spectacular that wraps all of Celestial Park in dancing fountains, sweeping lighting effects and a full fireworks finale. It pulls in the worlds all around you — Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic and Dark Universe. Until now, Epic Universe only lit up the sky on a few holidays, so a true nightly show is a real reason to keep your family in the park after dark. You’ll want park admission to see the full fountains-and-lights experience — we broke down where to stand and how to build your evening around it in our full Universal Celestial Goodnight guide.
Epic Universe turned one — and the numbers are staggering
Epic Universe marked its first anniversary in June. In year one it helped drive 12 straight months of tourism growth in the Orlando area and is credited with generating roughly $2 billion for Florida. Translation for families: this park is here for the long haul, and Universal is clearly reinvesting in it.
More is coming
Fresh permit filings point to a large new building (70,000+ square feet) in the Dark Universe land, plus signs the Wizarding World – Ministry of Magic area may expand. Nothing’s open yet, but it’s a great reminder that a Universal trip keeps getting more to offer.
Halloween Horror Nights 2026 keeps growing
HHN returns for 48 select nights, August 28 – November 1, with 10 all-new haunted houses. The lineup now includes Sinners (from the 2025 hit film), Stranger Things, and Hellraiser, alongside original houses like Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control. The whole event transforms Universal Studios Florida into the “Infernal Carnival of Nightmares.” HHN is intense and best for older kids and adults — ask us about separate-ticket nights and how to fit it around a family trip.
